A Thornloe woman has been fined a total of $1,200 for lands and fishing violations.
Katrina Doupe pleaded guilty to unlawfully depositing material on Crown land and wasting fish suitable for consumption, offences under the Public Lands Act and Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act. She was fined $700 and $500 respectively.
Court heard that on October 24, 2015, a conservation officer was identifying areas for clean-up where litter had been previously dumped on Crown land near the Spring Lake Road, in New Liskeard, when he discovered four new bags of garbage in the same area. Inside one of the bags, the officer found 10 spoiled bass fillets. An investigation led the officer to interview Doupe, who admitted to throwing the garbage containing the fish fillets into the bush while partridge hunting earlier in the fall.
Justice of the Peace Sylvie-Émanuelle Bourbonnais heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice, Haileybury, on February 11, 2016.
