Bradford’s Vicentiu Bobarnac was fined $3,750 Feb. 5 after pleading guilty to illegal and unsafe hunting charges in provincial court.
Mr. Bobarnac was fined $2,500 for illegally hunting two cow moose and another $1,250 for shooting across a road.
His hunting privileges have been suspended for a year.
According to the Ministry of Natural Resources, court heard Mr. Bobarnac was contacted by a conservation officer at a resort in the Lac des Mille Lacs area, west of Thunder Bay Oct. 17.
The investigating officer discovered he harvested a cow moose and attached his calf moose validation tag to it. He also shot and wounded a second cow moose.
He was authorized to harvest one calf moose.
Further investigation also determined Mr. Bobarnac shot across a road. It is illegal to shoot a firearm down, from or across a road.
