The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is proposing changes to the dip netting regulations in Fisheries Management Zone (FMZ) 11.

To simplify and streamline the dip netting regulations, the ministry is proposing to remove the list of designated waters for dip netting lake herring and lake whitefish in FMZ 11. This will allow dip netting to occur across the zone, instead of restricting it to select waterbodies.

Lake herring and lake whitefish populations across FMZ 11 are doing well and these changes aim to maintain healthy fisheries while providing more fishing opportunities.

Please send your comments about the proposed change to The comment period will be open from May 1 to May 31.
