Ontario’s New FishHuntON System Will Make Fishing and Hunting Licences Easier
Ontario’s New FishHuntON Licensing Service Will Help Anglers and Hunters
Ontario anglers and hunters will soon have a new way to buy, renew, and keep track of licences and tags. The province has announced FishHuntON, a new fishing and hunting licensing system planned for early 2027. The service will include a free mobile app where users can purchase fishing and hunting products, renew them, and store licences and tags on their phone. One useful feature is that stored licences and tags can still be accessed without cellular service, which matters for people travelling to remote lakes, camps, trails, and hunt areas where signal can be unreliable.
FishHuntON will also let hunters submit Ontario hunter accreditation documents online and offer a simpler way to send in hunter reports. At the same time, the province says core services will remain available, including Outdoors Cards, licences, tags, and big game draw applications online, through private issuers, and at participating ServiceOntario locations. Ontario’s current licensing system serves about 1.5 million Outdoors Card holders each year. Fishing and hunting add an estimated $3.37 billion annually to Ontario’s resource-based economy, while licence sales help fund fish and wildlife programs, stocking, enforcement, research, and public education.
