Three Southern Ontario Residents Fined for Illegal Deer Hunting

January 12, 2026

Three people from the Lakehurst area of southern Ontario have been fined a combined $4,500 after pleading guilty to a series of illegal deer hunting violations. One individual was found to have hunted deer without a licence, trespassed on private land for the purpose of hunting, hunted at night, and unlawfully used licence tags belonging to others. Another pleaded guilty to trespassing and allowing someone else to use his licence, while the third pleaded guilty to allowing unlawful tag use and failing to update licence information.

The offences stemmed from a conservation officer’s investigation after a complaint led to a trail of blood and footprints from a property into a backyard, where the deer hunter was found. Charges included unlawful night hunting and possession of illegally killed wildlife, and one of the individuals now faces a five-year hunting suspension. The case illustrates enforcement of hunting regulations and the consequences that follow when rules are ignored.
